As Mongolia Ulaanbaatar's TB Control Project Stabilizes ...

As of the end of December 2016, the first international cooperative project of STOP-TB Partnership Korea, "Ulaanbaatar's Tuberculosis Control Project through mutual cooperation between Korea and Mongolia" benefited a total of 9,144 Mongolian university students and residents of vulnerable classes that received screening and a total of 52 TB patients were found (525 per 100,000 population). This statistics has proven how successful the project has been.

The figure is much higher than the incidence of TB in Mongolia reported by the World Health Organization (428 people per 100,000 population) in 2015, which is an indication of the effectiveness of the project.

The project, which is being carried out in earnest since January this year, has completed the production of mobile inspection vehicles, recruitment for the local transportation for equipment and goods, and training for business personnel. Through active and prompt patient detection and early diagnosis of the residents, it contributes greatly to decrease TB prevalence and spread of TB in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
